Pursuant to CHED Memorandum Order No. 46, Series 2012 “Policy-Standard to Enhance Quality Assurance (QA) in Philippine Higher Education through an Outcomes-Based and Typology-Based QA,” as approved by the Commission En Banc through Resolution No. 913-2020 and as endorsed by the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, NOTRE DAME UNIVERSITY, an Oblate-run higher education institution in Cotabato City, was granted AUTONOMOUS STATUS  by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) on January 4, 2021 at the Higher Education Development Center, C.P. Garcia Avenue, U.P. Campus, Diliman, Quezon City.  Duly sighed be the Honorable Chairperson of the Commission on Higher Education, J. PROSPERO E. DE VERA III, DPA, the said certificate is effective from December 7, 2020 to December 7, 2022.

Notre Dame University is the only university in Cotabato City.  It is one of the 17 private higher education institutions in the area.  Prior to autonomous status, the university was a deregulated higher education institution.

The Commission on Higher Education Regional Office XII has been providing technical assistance to the university in its goal to become an autonomous university per compliance to the requirements stipulated in CMO 46 Series 2012.

In a letter from Dr. Luisa S. Valencia, Director, Office of Institutional Quality Assurance and Governance, to the undersigned, she emphasized that the grant of the said Certificate of Autonomous Status to Notre Dame University shall become official upon release to the institution.
